Music to Accompany
Kindergarten with your Three to Six Year Old

When we published the second volume of our Practical Waldorf at Home series, Kindergarten with your Three to Six Year Old, we thought it would be helpful to use our website to supplement the music in the book. We know that not everybody necessarily knows the tunes to traditional nursery rhymes or can read music. [We now also have the music for our Joyful Movement volume: you can find it here.]

We found a computer program, Noteworthy Composer, that enables the viewer to follow the written words and music whilst hearing the tune. We thought this would be a great help for those wanting to learn the songs in the book as well as helping people to read music (a skill worth having!).

To view these songs - listed below - you will need either the Noteworthy Composer Browser Plug-in or the Noteworthy Composer Viewer - both of which can be downloaded for free from Noteworthy Software's website.

The plug-in extends the capabilities of your web browser to include the display, playback and printing of Noteworthy Composer files. Download it from here: http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/composer/plugin.htm

Unfortunately, thanks to Microsoft, the plug-in will not work with more recent versions of Internet Explorer. If the plug-in does not work for you, you can download a small (317 KB) program called Noteworthy Composer 2 Viewer: http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/nwc2/viewer.htm

Please note: Noteworthy Composer and related software require the Windows operating system.

For Mac users and anyone else who, maybe, has the book and doesn't want to go to the lengths of downloading software to see the music and words - here are audio (MIDI) files of the music to the songs and nursery rhymes:

The Thread
Over in the Meadow
Mother Earth
Snail House
Chickadee
Five Little Pumpkins
A Knight and a Lady
For Sun and Rain
Oh, How Lovely is the Evening
Saint Martin
I Go With My Little Lantern
I Saw a Ship a-Sailing
Girls and Boys Come Out to Play
Lavender's Blue
Polly Put the Kettle On
Mary, Mary Quite Contrary
The Grand Old Duke of York
Humpty Dumpty
Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat
Little Bo Peep

To view these songs - listed below - you will need either the Noteworthy Composer Browser Plug-in or the Noteworthy Composer Viewer - both of which can be downloaded for free from Noteworthy Software's website. Both state that they require a Windows operating system - so if you use a Mac, we apologize (but you can still listen to the songs - see above right).

Note: we are not aware of any copyright restrictions with any of these songs - if there are, please do inform us!

Here are the songs and nursery rhymes you can see and hear - enjoy!
