An Inventors and Inventions Main Lesson Block

This is a Main Lesson block I came up with in response to my younger son, Gabriel's interest in science (this is not a block usually taught in Waldorf schools). For a 10 year-old, the best way to approach science is to be practical and "hands-on". So we made various objects such as the Telegraph which he drew and labeled, and which we wrote about together. We also studied clocks, starting by rigging up a simple sun clock (using a T-post, string and tent pegs), which Gabriel later drew (see below - turn your head to the side to see it properly!). Again, because of his age, much of what we did was to look at the lives of various inventors, such as Ben Franklin and Louis Braille.
