As of August 2007 we are now offering a new service: Assessment
Consultations. Parents can send Donna examples of their children's work
for her to look at and comment on. She has done this with several of her
year-long clients with great success. Subsequent conversations about the
children have been deeper and far more specific once Donna has an idea of
the kind of work the child does and where her strengths and weaknesses lie.
This service is offered directly to parents of children 13 years and under.
For those 14 and over, Donna can spend part of the phone call speaking
directly to the teen about his work.
Donna now offers this service to
other parents who are interested in receiving her opinions and advice about
their child's work.
Her comments will be focused on:
 |
acknowledging the positive,
outstanding and creative aspects of the child's work
|
 |
giving a rough idea of whether
the work falls within the norm of Waldorf grade expectations
|
 |
ideas for improvement
|
 |
her observations: this could
include comments like, "I see all these form drawings get muddled at the
right side of the page. Could there be a left/right issue in your
child?" or "It looks like your child is pressing very hard with his
crayon. It seems like he could be carrying a lot of tension in his
shoulder and hand" or "This is very advanced writing for a 10 year old:
does this just flow from her or are you really working very hard on this
with her?" and so on. |
How it works:
 |
You print out
the Child's Work
Questionnaire (one per child) and send it to us along with your
child's work and a check for the consultation. (You pay for mailing on
your end and the fee includes our return mailing costs.)
|
 |
Donna looks over what you have
sent and puts a few rudimentary comments on post-its on your child's
work. (These comments will be more extensive on examples of written work
from older students.) She e-mails you and sets up an appointment for a time after you
have received the work back.
|
 |
You speak on the phone with
Donna for the amount of time indicated (see below). With teens, it would
be best if for part of the consultation Donna could speak directly to
him or her. |
Those with teenage students
could also consider our Writing Assessment
Program which offers a similar arrangement but without the phone
conversation. Fees
(Fees include the cost of our
sending your child's work back to you. Please note this is for the United
States only. If you live outside of the USA please contact us to discuss
rates.)
$65 for one child - includes a 1
hour telephone consultation
$80 for two children - includes a
1 hour 15 min. consultation
$100 for three children - includes
a 1 hour 30 min. consultation
